Chez MainLine: 18/09/12

I must confess I spent all weekend geeking out a Comiccon instead of hanging out at MainLine but what can I say, nerdy girls are HOT! But now it is time to get back down to some serious MainLine business!

And what could be more serious than...

The Bombadils with Street Meat

The Bombadils are a five-piece ensemble based out of Montréal, Québec. They met in 2009 shortly after beginning their classical and jazz studies in music performance at McGill University. The band shares an eclectic variety of musical interests, which they bring together to create a unique, folk inspired sound. It is their sense of discipline and attention to detail, acquired through their formal experience and training, that helps them create a sound that is at once accessible and virtuosic.

STREET MEAT
Street Meat was cooked up when three montreal street musicians casually decided to band together and teach each other their repertoire while busking. Much to their surprise (who would hire a smelly street musician?), gigs of all kinds started rolling in. People walking by on the street would book the band for weddings, corporate events, restaurant, private parties and bar shows. Seeing this, Paul Dawson, Jean-Phillippe Lelotte-Demers and Lucas Zimbel decided to become more than bums with instruments and thus the Street Meat was served, fresh off the grill. Since then, the band has been playing and composing constantly. Their music is a blend of gypsy jazz, rock-a-billy, country and classical music, all arranged for dancing and drinking. It has been dubbed untraditional-folk. The band can usually be found somewhere on Saint-Catherine street in Montreal or in a local bar. So when you're in the the mood for the Meat (even if you're a vegetarian), the band serves it up all day and night, spiced to perfection.

Bien sûr, on a aussi des pièces de théâtre au MainLine, comme celle-ci qui commence la semaine prochaine:
In case you were wondering, we do also have actual plays at MainLine Theatre too. Opening next week:

The Heinously Horrendous Heiress (Or, the detectivorial sleuthings of messrs. Moarcock and Morgenstern, in regards to the seemingly seamless slay of madame Floorthwright, and the consequences thereof)
By Jimmy Karamanis and Zach Brown

Murder is afoot! Murder most funny! The psychotic duchess Hermia Hermous has offed her aunt, with plans to do in her sister next! The only detective with enough integrity, charm and hawk-like charisma to stop her, Mr Nathaniel Moarcock!... is nowhere to be found. Therefore, Devonshire will have to make due with his par-at-best assistant, Septimus Morgenstern. But when Septimus' college rival and ex-lover appear hand in hand on the scene, things become increasingly chaotic. All Septimus can hope for now is a series of random, coincidental, and altogether amusing events that will aid him to find Hermia Hermous before she kills again!
