Chez MainLine: Jam-Packed with shows this week!

That's right, this week we have a jam-packed lineup of storytelling, multidisciplinary work, comedy and art installations! Start Wednesday with SMUT SLAM V in the lobby, then come back on Thursday for Open La Puerta - a show created in residency at the MAI (Montreal arts, interculturels), Friday get your improv geek on with Captain Spaceship (followed by a special improv show by Uncalled For), Saturday come hear a marathon of over twenty-five two minute stories at Confabulation at 7PM and then you MUST come check out In Between presented by Art Matters/MainLine Theatre from 11PM-3AM for Nuit Blanche. FRINGEMTL favourite BODY SLAM will be performing at 2AM on Nuit Blanche. Trust me, this week will burn you out, but it will be well worth it.
Cette semaine, on a plein de choses qui se passent chez MainLine! Des histoires vraies, des créations multidisciplinaires, des installations de comédie et d'art, et plus! Commencez le tout mercredi avec Smut Slam V dans le lobby, revenz jeudi pour Open La Puerta, venez voir de l'impro inter-galactique avec Captain Spaceship et Uncalled For vendredi soir, et puis revenez samedi pour une édition très spéciale de Confabulation (dans laquelle on entendra plus de 25 histoires courtes), et puit In Between - une co-présentation pour Nuit Blanche d'Art Matters et MainLine Theatre, dès 23h. Les favoirs du Fringe BODY SLAM nous offrirons une performance à 2h du matin ce soir-là! Croyez-moi, cette semaine va vous épuiser, mais ça vaudra la peine!

You know what a poetry slam is, and maybe you know about story slams, too. Now it’s time for round 5 of Montreal’s SMUT SLAM, a fast-paced night of storytelling based on real life, real lust, real sex. The next SMUT SLAM is on Wednesday, February 27, starting at 20:00 at Mainline Theatre, 3997 boul. St-Laurent. The theme for this SMUT SLAM is “COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA” (crossed wires, missed connections, and other stories of almost-sex).
SMUT SLAMMERS sign up on the night to tell a 5-minute piece of smut/sex/erotica, based on their real lives and ideally relating to the theme of “COULDA, SHOULDA, WOULDA” (almost-sex stories), and a lucky eight to ten names will be drawn at random. There will be a team of five judges - interested amateurs, storytellers, theater people, writers, and anyone who loves sex stories.
NOT A SMUT SLAMMER? Don’t worry. The audience is in for a good time at SMUT SLAM! Sit back and enjoy. All we ask is: - No interrupting. - No heckling. - No necking.

Join Captain Spaceship and his crew of intergalactic riff-raff as they travel through time and space exploring the cosmos, discovering new unchartered worlds and narrowly avoid copyright infringement.
Inspired by 1950’s Sci-fi serials, Star Trek, Doctor Who, Firefly, Red Dwarf and 90210; The Captain and his crew will make up their ongoing epic adventures live onstage aided by the audience’s suggestions. They could end up anywhere and anyWHEN and will have only their sharp improv skills, some cheap costumes and maybe some lasers to defend themselves.

Join us for a spectacle of inescapable expression.
For the seventh year in a row, Art Matters will be celebrating Nuit Blanche for Montréal en lumière. In collaboration with MainLine Theatre and the St-Ambroise Montreal FRINGE Festival, Art Matters presents In Between, an immersive event utilizing the space of a theatre as a living canvas.
Participants are invited to walk through the environs and intersect with various art forms, from dance to visual arts and theatre, becoming immersed in the creative process.

¡Open La Puerta! Is a music and sound collage performance inspired by composer Martin Rodriguez’s heritage as a Mexican-Polish-American. Using a patchwork of sounds influenced by growing up on the boarder town of Rio Rico, Arizona to coming of age in a Seattle suburb in the 90s, he creates cinematic soundscapes offering a door to the imagination.
Martin will be performing his composition with a small ensemble of musicians, mixing elements of improvisation and found art (including family videos & photos), along with hand made electronic instruments creating a musical atmosphere that reflects his diverse upbringing and the roads that have brought him to call Montréal home.

For the past few spacemonths, Uncalled For has been operating on several different points on the spacetime continuum! Now, however, thanks to the interstellar brilliance of Shane Adamczak's Captain Spaceship, four brave Uncalled Foragers will be reunited for one night in this reality!
Matt, Mike, Colin and Anders will perform a special improv set -- one beyond the curve of our reality.

Confabulation is Montreal's premier all-true storytelling event. Real stories told by real people. In honour of the shortest month fo the year (although we're holding this event a few days after it ends), March 2nd's theme is The Shortest Story, which will feature as many 2 minute stories as we can fit into one night.
