OFF-JFL - 7 Minutes in Purgatory with Ian Abramson

Just for Laughs

Company website

7 Minutes in Purgatory challenges comedians to perform directly to a camera alone in a soundproof room, while audience members watch a live feed in another room. This social experiment/comedy show offers a chance to watch performers hilariously and awkwardly attempt to do their act without the benefit of audience feedback. The show, which was described by the Laugh Button as "one of the coolest and most creative additions to the comedy world," has appeared at festivals like Moontower, Bridgetown, The Onion & AV Club's 2nd & 3rd Annual 26th Annual Comedy Festivals, High Plains, RIOT LA, and the New York Comedy Festival. 7 Minutes in Purgatory will be appearing on Comedy Central digital platforms soon!

What if you entered an empty rehearsal hall and suddenly an audience appears? Joseph Ste-Marie brings his experimental scripted/improvised one-man show, This Show is Broken back to the stage! This remount blends the 2021 Digital Theatre production from the Montreal FRINGE Festival and the original 2015 production at the 2nd annual Shortstanding Festival. Ste-Marie must perform his show as he explores his life, struggles, missteps, and tries to show that it’s not too late to pursue your dreams…. However, Joseph is challenged to be honest with himself so his show can be authentic as possible without being blinded by ambition.
