SOLOS Festival + MainLine Theatre

Company website

How can you turn a good party story into a performance worthy of an audience? How do you turn a story that has huge significance for you into something people actually want to listen to? If it’s a funny story, how come no one’s laughing? This workshop, presented as part of SOLOS, will give participants brutally honest advice about their stories in a kind, non-judgemental setting. We’ll also explore the tools required to make any story interesting and the tricks Zoe has learned over the course of 5 years of writing and performing true stories from her life. Since 2014, she’s been the a story producer for xvzf, a tech storytelling event where tech workers tell stories from their lives, she is also a Confabulation veteran and a stand-up comedian.

Open to anyone who wants to tell better stories in public, and will be tailored to the level of the class.

Come with a story idea and leave with the tools to make it a slam dunk.

Tickets are PWYC, suggested price 20$. Reserve your spot today by emailing info@solosfestival.com!

What if you entered an empty rehearsal hall and suddenly an audience appears? Joseph Ste-Marie brings his experimental scripted/improvised one-man show, This Show is Broken back to the stage! This remount blends the 2021 Digital Theatre production from the Montreal FRINGE Festival and the original 2015 production at the 2nd annual Shortstanding Festival. Ste-Marie must perform his show as he explores his life, struggles, missteps, and tries to show that it’s not too late to pursue your dreams…. However, Joseph is challenged to be honest with himself so his show can be authentic as possible without being blinded by ambition.
