This BOOK is my BEST Friend! - Montreal

MainLine Thetare

Company website

If you are a reader, you have a favourite book.
Or books.
It's just what happens.

This event celebrates that, and exposes you to more favourites.
Over 2 hours, 20 ordinary readers spend 3 minutes each passionately endorsing an extraordinary book, letting you in on why that particular book is their best friend.
And the best part is – that book can become your best friend too.
That's the beauty of books.

Come listen to a passel of book-lovers. And if you have a book that you are eager to advocate in front of a warm and wondrous audience, email the organizer at inconsolablecat@hotmail.com with MTLBOOK in the subject heading, letting me know which book is your best friend, and I will save you a spot in the lineup!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because this is the inaugural edition of this event, we don't know what will transpire. Recommendations may be longer, or shorter than intended. You may be bored, or outraged. Books chosen may be controversial, or saccharine. Whatever happens, we hope that you will greet the proceedings with a level of compassionate understanding and patience. And if you have any recommendations on how to improve the event, please email the organizers at inconsolablecat@hotmail.com. Thank you!

What if you entered an empty rehearsal hall and suddenly an audience appears? Joseph Ste-Marie brings his experimental scripted/improvised one-man show, This Show is Broken back to the stage! This remount blends the 2021 Digital Theatre production from the Montreal FRINGE Festival and the original 2015 production at the 2nd annual Shortstanding Festival. Ste-Marie must perform his show as he explores his life, struggles, missteps, and tries to show that it’s not too late to pursue your dreams…. However, Joseph is challenged to be honest with himself so his show can be authentic as possible without being blinded by ambition.

The Montreal Clown Festival is pleased to return to its roots at the home of the St. Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival to present a cabaret of new work, “New Recipes” featuring 12 brave clowns.

Under the direction of Gabe McKinney (Director, Old God; Speigleworld; Dell-Arte graduate and guest teacher), 12 performers developed short new works for the opening night of the 4-day Clown festival after a same-day, high-stakes workshop.
