Le Gala MainLine pour le Théâtre étudiant présente / The MainLine Gala for Student Drama presents TURBULENCE

MainLine Theatre & 32-Hour Theatre Company

MainLine Theatre and 32-Hour Theatre Company join forces to present the 6th annual MainLine Gala for Student Drama. This showcase gives aspiring student playwrights, directors and actors a professional setting to produce their work within. Our goal is to offer gala platform participants support through mentorship, resource sharing and production consulting. This year, we present four short plays centered around the theme of TURBULENCE.

We Are One presents:
THANK YOU FOR THE TIME
“Thank You For The Time” is a one act play racing to solve a problem between two nearly human creatures that have been left behind. As they scramble to understand what has become of their relationship, our two beings see the little life they have built for themselves begin to dissolve. Funny, sad, sweet, and strange, Thank You For The Time is a play first and foremost about love, and how much we will do for those we give it to.

Writer: Dimitri Kyres
Director: Emelia Hellman
Stage Manager: Lizzie Chuprun
Starring: Ally Caruso and Patrick Ryan

Thunder Tangent Productions presents:
ONE TOO MANY
One Too Many is a post-dramatic collective creation about alcohol, substance abuse, and failure. We will plumb the very depths of the inner workings of our souls. We will explore substance abuse from a historical, scientific, and personal perspective. We will find ourselves and lose ourselves and find ourselves again, (probably), all while drunk and getting drunker. Imagine the shenanigans. Imagine the tom-foolery. We'll probably even learn some lessons, I bet.

Co-Written and starring: Evan Harvey & Calla Wright
Creative Director: Michelle Lee

What if you entered an empty rehearsal hall and suddenly an audience appears? Joseph Ste-Marie brings his experimental scripted/improvised one-man show, This Show is Broken back to the stage! This remount blends the 2021 Digital Theatre production from the Montreal FRINGE Festival and the original 2015 production at the 2nd annual Shortstanding Festival. Ste-Marie must perform his show as he explores his life, struggles, missteps, and tries to show that it’s not too late to pursue your dreams…. However, Joseph is challenged to be honest with himself so his show can be authentic as possible without being blinded by ambition.

The Creator of the Universe is coming to Montréal for the first time ever! God takes the stage in the form of Montréal actor Donald Rees in An Act of God: the divinely funny, critically acclaimed Broadway hit play by David Javerbaum, in which God and His devoted angels answer the deepest questions that have plagued mankind since creation.
