OBSCURA

Christian Cagigal

Company website

The beauty of Obscura is that it isn't obscured at all. Other magicians go to lengths to misdirect the audience. Christian Cagigal performs right under the unblinking eye of a video camera -- his wonder-working projected on a giant screen in real time. The heightened level of scrutiny brings an intensity to this hybrid of dark fables and magic. And remember, the Devil’s in the details...literally. Under these conditions where else could he be?

Nominated Best Solo Show - Montreal Fringe Festival 2015

""While his magic dazzles, his storytelling lulls you, transporting you into a world where every stranger might be hiding a devil’s face, a world infinitely more interesting than your own.""

What if you entered an empty rehearsal hall and suddenly an audience appears? Joseph Ste-Marie brings his experimental scripted/improvised one-man show, This Show is Broken back to the stage! This remount blends the 2021 Digital Theatre production from the Montreal FRINGE Festival and the original 2015 production at the 2nd annual Shortstanding Festival. Ste-Marie must perform his show as he explores his life, struggles, missteps, and tries to show that it’s not too late to pursue your dreams…. However, Joseph is challenged to be honest with himself so his show can be authentic as possible without being blinded by ambition.
